Work PlacementsIf you think the built environment is the industry for you, but want to get some real experience, Mace can help you. We offer a number of one-year placements for undergraduates wishing to spend their third year in industry. We also offer short-term employment opportunities for students wishing to work with Mace during academic breaks.

The scheme allows you to put your learning into practice and also enhances your skills and knowledge. Mace placement employees return to college or university with a greater understanding of the industry, working life and their specialist field.

It is a source of great pride that the vast majority of our placement students want to return to Mace on completion of their studies and that many successfully apply for a place on our well respected management training programme.
Most work placements are based on project sites which is ideal if you are studying for a construction-related degree such as construction management, project management for construction, quantity surveying with commercial management, or building services.

As well as on the job learning, we will also train you in areas such as:

  • Career management
  • Personal development
  • Technical processes and systems

"As a placement student at Mace I feel I'm treated exactly the same as a full time employee. The working atmosphere is so focused and energetic and people are always open to new ideas and new ways of thinking. You really can make your role your own. Mace knows how to help you get the most out of your placement year too. The responsibilities I have been given have helped me improve my confidence and I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve. Once every two weeks, I meet with my manager to discuss opportunities within my placement and also continual development for when I graduate. I'd definitely like to come back to Mace... fingers crossed they will want me back!"
Alison Walker, Marketing and Communications Assistant, London.

The selection process for our 2010 work placement programme is now closed. We will be accepting applications again from October for our 2011 intake of placement students.
