Mace Plus top out for Oxford University

15/06/2010
Mace Plus and client Oxford University held a traditional topping out ceremony for the new world-class medical facility, the Oxford Molecular Pathology Institute (OMPI).
Mace Plus construction director, Terry Spraggett was the opening speaker at the ceremony, which was marked with the presentation of a ceremonial trowel to the University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Andrew Hamilton, following the cast of the last piece of concrete.
Professor Hamilton [pictured], commented: "Far from resting on its laurels, the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology is carrying out crucial research for the 21st century. Rightly famous for its history and the development of penicillin, this new building will be an important part of the Dunn School's continuing drive to understand disease and the responses of the body's immune system for the improvement of the future provision of healthcare."
Completion is due in early 2011 and the OMPI will house existing research programmes in immunology, developmental biology, microbiology, and cancer cell biology.
