Mace Sustain is supporting homeless charity Centrepoint by taking part in its Sleepout event and sleeping rough in the streets of London.
Six members of the community regeneration team including director David Rowbotham and community regeneration manager Gez Carr will be sleeping rough in Old Spitalfields Market on 12th November to help raise £250,000 to help Centrepoint provide services for homeless young people.
By spending the night in Old Spitalfields Market the team and the other 450 supporters will for one night experience the discomfort of trying to sleep on boxes on a hard cold floor amongst the bright lights of the city night and the noise of street cleaners, public transport and late night revellers.
Director David Rowbotham said: "Mace Sustain have been working closely with Centrepoint for the last 18 months and currently support over 40 homeless young people through our Building Learning and Training programme, offering pre-employment training, mentoring and employment support. Our team is aiming to raise at least £3,000 and hope that our colleagues across the business will support this worthy cause."
Community regeneration manager Gez Carr adds: "Two young people from the Covent Garden hostel have been placed into sustainable employment by Mace Sustain. Our help has allowed them to move out of the hostel and into their own accommodation."
Centrepoint was founded in 1969 and they work directly with young people in Greater London, and in the North East. They house and support 830 homeless young people between the ages of 16 and 25 every night. Centrepoint works and campaigns to give homeless young people a future by supporting them directly and by influencing practice, policy and provision.
