Information
In 2008 Mace Sustain secured funding from the Learning and Skills Council and the European Social Fund to deliver a Pan London Plant Training project (PaLPT) is supporting employed people with plant training within the construction industry.
Mace has long realised that our projects have the power to transform lives as well as spaces and social inclusion programmes are an increasingly key element to the way we deliver.
Mace Sustain is delivering the PaLPT project to help overcome skills shortages in the industry. More than 70,000 additional workers are needed each year just to replace those retiring, and there are skills shortages in most trades and at managerial and supervisory levels so the programme is both timely and strategically beneficial for all involved.
The training programme is being funded through the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and the European Social Fund, in partnership with the National Construction College at Eaton Manor on the London 2012 Olympic site.
The project will provide:
- 134 starters - all with information, advice and guidance
- 20 referred to further education and/or training on any course
- 104 referred to NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations or Plant Maintenance
- 87 NVQ passes achieved
The project is restricted to employed men and women. Provision will be tailored and timed to ensure accessibility and suitability to individual need.
